Alanna Rizzo 7/29

Kemp has a two homer day earning him a shower. Alanna saw it coming but ended up taking a spill as she tried to get away. She managed to escape damage for the most part, but threatened revenge after Kemp helped her back up. Managing to stay mostly dry keeps her within reach of any of the other leaders who can't avoid future coolers.

2014 Mid Year Awards

Nearing the all star break, we've made it through half of the games this season. Here's a look at how the awards half way through

Top Single Cooler
Leila Rahimi held the award until last week when Kris Budden got caught in a complete game celebration and ended up just shy of last years record from Kelly Crull.  http://coolercupmlb.blogspot.com/2014/07/kris-budden-72.html

Most often soaked reporter
Julia Morales caught a couple early showers before dodging a couple more but remains the only reporter to have gotten caught multiple times this year http://coolercupmlb.blogspot.com/2014/05/julia-morales-514.html

Best at staying dry
Alex Curry has been able to enjoy several players getting soaked, usually managing to avoid the aftermath. One of the many examples here: http://m.mlb.com/video/v32588761/texlaa-cron-on-his-major-league-debut/?game_pk=380990. Best part is the fist pump celebrating/taunting staying dry around 20 seconds.

Team Cooler Cup
Despite having a rebuilding year, the Astros are solidly in the lead despite several misses the last few weeks. Leila Rahimi (http://coolercupmlb.blogspot.com/2014/05/leila-rahimi-52.html) and Julia Morales (http://coolercupmlb.blogspot.com/2014/04/julia-morales-houston-astros-427.html) being the Astros targets this year share the team award with the Astros. But the Padres entered the discussion this past week after running away with it last year and could make a second half comeback

Astros: 45.5 -3*2 misses that I found = 39.5
Padres: 21
Yankees: 16.5
 Dodgers: 16
Angels:  13

Reporter Cooler Cup
Julia's two run ins with the powerade give her the lead at the half way point.  A couple times dodging the showers have kept her close to the rest of the pack. Will anyone else be unlucky enough to score a second shower? All 3 of the reporters from the top coolers of last year (see earlier posts) have stayed dry this year so someone could come from nowhere in the second half.

Julia Morales: 25.5
Kris Budden: 21
Leila Rahimi: 20.5
Meredith Marakovits: 16.5
Alanna Rizzo: 16

Kris Budden 7/2

Kris probably thought she was safe after the pie started the celebration of Ross's 3 hitter CG but got caught in the heavy water and powerade shower that followed. Fortunately for her white dress the colored stuff came second after she mostly had made her get away but not before the water caught her pretty good as she turned to run. Probably the biggest soaking of the year so far, but not as strong of media coverage of the aftermath. Just shy of the biggest all time - see the top cooler of 2013

Trevor Thompson 6/30

Not much more exciting than a walk off grand slam, although Trevor Thompson probably wasn't hoping to shower at the ball park. Caught in Raji's soaking he becomes the next victim to score on the cooler cup and the first man to score a 10+.
