Guerin Austin 5/14

The Red Sox have been scoring runs and throwing powerade a lot lately but video coverage hasn't been the best until this dousing that Guerin suffered after an extra inning walk off. They brought the cooler before the interview got started and Guerin could only turn and wince. Some of the photos capture her shocked reaction to the cold liquid. Blue didn't treat her white dress kindly, turning portions of it sky blue and soaking her from head to toe. What about heels, do those dry out and make it back to the diamond? Hopefully she had a towel or change of clothes for the trip home.

The first Hall of Fame soaking of 2016 propelled the Red Sox and Guerin into first place in our cooler cup standings, as hot as they are, she better keep an eye out for more buckets.

Alanna Rizzo 5/10

The Dodgers, along with the entire NL West have slugged off to a slow start, Alanna was apparently getting used to the lack of celebrations after wins. After a wet, winning 2014, she did pretty good staying dry in 2015 but her cooler avoidance was a little rusty after Trayce's walkoff.

Justin Turner brought the Powerade cooler (fortunately for her it appears to be water). Alanna usually is long gone by the time the cooler starts emptying but Trayce didn't flinch if he knew it was coming and she must not have seen around him because her first steps were after she was splashed facing Trayce. She turned and ran, catching more splash to the back. It must have been cold, she didn't seem too thrilled to be included in the celebration, firing her stage manager for being a bad look out. Good luck to the new manager, Alanna's wardrobe is counting on you. (Maybe her manager agrees with the rest of us, this is way more entertaining than a traditional interview about what he was looking for in that at bat and what the win means to the team)

Hazel Mae 5/3

After winning the division last year, Toronto has struggled getting the offense going this year. This game was no different, the Blue Jays needed a 9th inning home run to tie it at 1 and relied again on Smoak to hit the walk off in the 10th. Good news for the Jays, maybe it will get  them going, but it spelled bad news for Hazel's green dress.

During the interview with Smoak, Pillar and Martin approached with Powerade. The red stuff came first splashing off of Smoak and catching Hazel off guard. Luckily for her, despite not moving very far, Martin's water cooler mostly missed her and Smoak, right between them. A fairly high scoring splash that was inches from a huge soaking.

Twitter provided an alternate angle from the broadcast video linked below

Salvy saved some of the bottom of the cooler and targeted Joel. I'm sure he loved that on get away day. Apparently no one stuck around to photograph it, didn't find any in a quick search.

Joel Goldberg 4/19

Joel got held as Salvy tried to avoid a taste of his own medicine. Both escaped with Joel catching some shoulder splash.

As one of the reporters who dodges this every win, it took him a couple weeks to get on the board and begin his quest to repeat as CoolerCup Reporter

Marney Gellner 4/17

I'm guessing Marney realized she could be in danger as the game went into extra innings. After starting 0-9, the Twins were on the verge of sweeping the Angels. Trying to interview Arcia through the interpreter probably kept more of her focus on the interview and missed the incoming shower. Despite turning and running, she caught some in the back.

After reporters stayed mainly dry the first couple weeks, the weekend caught a couple in the splash. Warmer weather probably means more wet clothes for reporters, who's next?

Julie takes the honor of the first on field reporter to catch a noteworthy splash. Earning her shower after watching a 14 inning game and a Padres walk off. The Padres finally had something to celebrate.
